Wexford book FAI Cup quarter-final spot after seeing off St Patrick's CY

Darragh Levingston's first-half goal was enough to put Wexford into the quarter-finals of the Sports Direct FAI Cup against a battling St Patrick’s CY side at Irishtown Stadium this afternoon.

Levingston finished emphatically from a poor clearance by the home side for the only goal of the game three minutes before the break.

Kian Corbally threatened to add to the lead while Darragh Levingston save another opportunity saved by Peter Quinlan.

Eoin Kenny, son of Republic of Ireland manager Stephen, came on as a second half substitute as his loan spell from Dundalk continues.

Wexford join fellow First Division side in the hat for the last eight draw on Tuesday.

Bohemians, Dundalk and Drogheda United also progressed on Friday.

Derry City host St Patrick’s Athletic this evening in the remaining second round game to be played, while two matches have been rescheduled after the impact of Storm Betty on Friday.

Cork City and Waterford clash on Monday at Turner’s Cross, as well as UCD hosting Galway United at the UCD Bowl.
