West Ham: Fabrizio Romano drops exciting transfer update at London Stadium

West Ham could still make up to three signings before September’s transfer deadline, according to Fabrizio Romano.

David Moyes has made five additions since the market opened for business, but Romano is expecting the Hammers boss to remain busy in the final few weeks of the window.

Having fallen short in the Premier League and Europa League last season due to their lack of squad depth, the east Londoners have been working hard on improving their options all over the pitch.

And up to now, they’ve done that, bolstering their defensive numbers with the addition of Moroccan centre back Nayef Aguerd, although the ex-Rennes star hasn’t played competitively after suffering an injury in pre-season.

Next through the door was Alphonse Areola, who made his loan deal permanent despite being backup to Lukasz Fabianski last season, while midfielder Flynn Downes arrived from Swansea.

West Ham’s latest two additions are perhaps their most exciting of the window, with Italy international Gianluca Scamacca finally ending their long wait to sign a striker, before Maxwel Cornet came in from Burnley after the Hammers activated his release clause.

Despite the five arrivals, Romano expects the London Stadium outfit to complete more business before the window slams shut.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it always depends on the opportunities, but I wouldn’t be surprised if West Ham made another two or three signings.

“They have some options, but two or three signings would be the right number for West Ham.”

Left back and centre back are two key areas that Moyes needs to bolster, and the Scot is on the verge of addressing both.

According to The Sun, the Hammers are ‘closing in’ on the signings of Emerson and Thilo Kehrer.
