West Ham: £32.3m signing 'only matter of time' at London Stadium

West Ham United are set to secure the services of Amadou Onana as the Lille star wants to make the move to the London Stadium, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Hammers have suffered a setback in their transfer plans after Jesse Lingard opted to join Nottingham Forest instead of returning to east London, but boss David Moyes has turned his attentions towards luring Onana away from France.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham have tested Lille’s resolve by heading to the negotiating table and offering £32.3million, plus add-ons, for Onana.

The report suggests the one-cap Belgium international’s current employers are seriously considering the offer.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has told GIVEMESPORT that West Ham are still waiting to hear a response from Lille after their latest attempt to prise Onana away from them.

The Hammers failed with an opening gambit of £19.5million, which resulted in Lille insisting at the time that they were unwilling to offload the defensive midfielder.

But that, along with a £25.5million bid being pushed back by the Ligue 1 outfit, has not deterred West Ham in their pursuit.

Brown understands that Onana is eager to secure a switch to West Ham before the September 1 transfer deadline.

The journalist feels, although the Hammers have been thwarted in their attempts to sign the 20-year-old on more than one occasion, Onana will eventually get his wish.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “That one seems to have gone a little bit quiet, but he’s a player who seems to want to come to West Ham.

“I think it’s only a matter of time before it gets done, essentially.”

Moyes has already bolstered his central midfield options after completing the £12million signing of Flynn Downes from Championship
