West Brom offer 'on the table' for manager following Valerien Ismael sacking
West Browmcih Albion are said to be closing in on the appointment of Steve Bruce as Valerien Ismael's replacement.
The Frenchman was sacked as the Baggies manager this afternoon following a poor run of form.
West Brom are currently eight points off an automatic promotion spot and are perilously close to slipping out of the top six altogether, with just goal difference separating them and seventh placed Nottingham Forest as it stands.
Former Barnsley manager Ismael left his post at Oakwell at the end of last season to take on the challenge of getting West Brom promoted back to the Premier League following the club's relegation from the top flight.
But after just 29 league games in charge of the club, Ismael is now set to be replaced.
The bookmakers' favourite to succeed him is former Aston Villa and Birmingham City boss Bruce and reports this evening suggest the deal is moving closer to completion.
The Telegraph claim that Bruce has already held talks with new chief executive Ron Gourlay this evening.
They also report that an 18-month contract is 'on the table' ahead of a possible swift appointment.
