Week-long washout set to hit Greater Manchester just days after 28C heatwave

Mancunians may have to brace themselves for a week of rain, just days after the region enjoyed a mini-heatwave. Greater Manchester could see rain fall every day until July 2, the Met Office has forecast.

Thunderstorm warnings were in place for Greater Manchester this weekend, but they were removed, with the majority of the region still managing to enjoy the sun, despite some breeze, throughout Saturday and Sunday. Looking ahead, the weather forecast for the coming week predicts rain could fall every day.

From Monday, temperatures will drop to around 17 degrees, but will continue to be comfortably warm, between 17 and 20 degrees throughout the week. Short spells of showers are expected to fall each day until next Saturday, according to the latest Met Office forecast.

It comes just a week after crowds were spotted sunning themselves in spots across Manchester, making the most of dry and hot spells, which saw the region even hotter than Ibiza last Thursday - at a sizzling 28C. Manchester can enjoy one last day of dry conditions today until showers are expected to hit.

From June 27, temperatures will drop to around 17C, with a 90 per cent chance of rain until around 3pm. There may be a few short sunny spells into the evening.

On Tuesday, there is a 50 per cent chance of outbreaks of rain and overcast conditions around midday, and again in the evening, at around 7pm. Conditions will be much the same on Wednesday, when there is a 40 per cent chance of showers expected from around 1pm in the afternoon, with some brief sunny intervals in between.
