Toulouse Olympique powerhouse leaves club with UK return expected

Toulouse Olympique forward Gadwin Springer has left the club with immediate effect, Rugby League Live understands. The towering forward, a French international, is understood to have departed, though the reasons for his exit are currently unknown.

Springer joined the club ahead of the season following their promotion to Super League but has made just five appearances for Sylvain Houles' side. He last featured at the end of April in the club's heavy defeat to Hull FC and has not played in their last five matches.

He is now expected to return to the UK for the remainder of the season with a deal expected to be confirmed in the next week. The 29-year-old spent seven seasons in the UK with Castleford Tigers, Toronto Wolfpack, Halifax Panthers and most recently Featherstone Rovers, who are now actively on the lookout for props.

The reason for his departure is currently unclear. Toulouse are currently bottom of Super League with just two wins to their name. They were heavily defeated on Friday, losing 40-6 to Wigan Warriors. Toulouse are currently six points adrift of safety with 11 games remaining.

As for Springer, he has made 67 appearances during his Super League career and was part of the Toronto Wolfpack side that earned promotion to the Championship in 2019.
