'We've not mentioned...' - Sky Sports journo reveals Spurs 'interested' in 'star of the future'

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Marc Guehi.

It’s pretty obvious that Spurs are in the market for a new centre-back, having already looked to bring in Alessandro Bastoni – someone who played under Antonio Conte during their title-winning season at Inter – while they were also said to have held an interest in Josko Gvardiol.

However, the former looks very much set on staying in Italy with Inter, which has seen other candidates appear as potential signings such as Guehi and Sven Botman, but it’s the former that Thomas has highlighted.

While speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Thomas believes that despite having just one season of top-flight experience, Spurs are interested in signing Guehi.

He said: “There is another centre-back that we’ve not mentioned that Spurs are interested in, and that’s Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace.

“That’s what I touched on before, [he is] more of a young star of the future. I know he’s had a season at Crystal Palace, so he’s a bit more established than that, but I think he’s more for the future.”

Given that Guehi is still only 21 years old and has just a single season of Premier League experience under his belt, it would be something of a surprise if Antonio Conte was to go out and bring him to north London after being linked with more established names in the game this summer, as mentioned above.
