'We’ve got a good chance of going up' - Morgan Gibbs-White on Sheffield United's promotion chances

Morgan Gibbs-White believes Sheffield United still have a strong chance of an immediate return to the Premier League via the play-offs. The Wolves loanee scored his tenth league goal of the season to earn the Blades a point away at Bristol City but it was a game they really should have won.

The 1-1 draw was enough to keep Paul Heckingbottom’s inside the play-offs but, given the results elsewhere, it was a real opportunity missed to strengthen their grip on the top six. Instead, there are now four teams below United within three points of catching them, although Gibbs-White is still confident in his side’s ability.

“That’s the Championship for you, it’s always tight,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel. “We’ve got enough experience in the team to get us over the line and I believe we’ll definitely get there and when we’re in the play-offs, I think we’ve got a good chance of going up as well.”

It was another game where the 22-year-old came to the rescue for his loan club and saw him reach double figures in terms of goals for the season. He revealed that such a tally was his aim before the campaign began but he still needs a couple of assists to reach his other pre-season target.

“I said to myself at the start of the season that I want double figures for both assists and goals,” added Gibbs-White. “I’ve got 10 goals and eight assists now so it’s not bad, but I should have more.”
