'We struggle' - Ruben Amorim explains what is holding Manchester United back
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim believes his team is suffering from a lack of pace and power in attacking areas.
United recorded a second successive victory with a slender 1-0 triumph over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday night. Lisandro Martinez's deflected effort 12 minutes from time was enough to edge a dull contest.
United climbed up to 12th in the table with their second victory in their last three Premier League outings, moving to within four points of the top half, but their performance most certainly highlighted their attacking limitations.
Amorim's side registered just four shots at on the banks of the Thames, only one of which was on target. Rasmus Hojlund was recalled and started up front but failed to impose himself on the game, having just 20 touches of the ball.
Joshua Zirkzee replaced the Dane with 58 minutes played and also struggled to make his mark at the top end of the pitch, once again highlighting United's need to sign a striker before next Monday's transfer deadline.
Asked if scoring goals is a problem for United, Amorim told TNT Sports: "I think so. Even in the second half, we wanted to change something, we lack some pace and power up front.
"But it is what it is. We need to have ball creators, more chances. We struggle a lot in these details. But winning helps a lot to improve."
Hojlund is now on a run of 11 games without a goal, last scoring on December 12, while Zirkzee has fired nine successive blanks. They have scored just 11 goals between them across all competitions this season.
