Marcus Rashford Man United transfer exit route back on as Barcelona 'close' to agreement

Manchester United are running out of time to solve the problem with Marcus Rashford.

Ruben Amorim's comments after the Fulham win placed even more doubt over his future. Rashford has missed the past 11 matches and was excluded from the matchday squad again on Sunday night.

He trained with the United team during their open session on Wednesday but continues to be frozen out. "It's the same, it's always the same reason," Amorim explained. "The reason is the training, the way I see what footballers should do in training, in life, it's every day, every detail.

"So if things don't change, I will not change. It's the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player. And you can see it today on the bench, we miss a little bit of pace to go and change the game, move some pieces.

"But I prefer it like that. I will put Vital on before I put a player on that don’t give the maximum every day. So I will not change in that department."

The transfer window closes on Monday (February 3) at 11pm meaning the chance to solve Rashford's predicament is running out. However, a domino effect elsewhere could finally see him secure a move away.

Barcelona are the bookmakers' favourites to land the 27-year-old but their financial struggles mean Rashford's salary is a problem. Reports in Spain this month have claimed that the La Liga side would need to raise around €6.5m (£5.4m) to cover his wages.

This week, it's been reported that Al-Ittihad are pushing to sign young striker Unai Hernandez following encouraging talks. A bid worth €4m-€5m (£3.3m-£4.1m) is said to be on the table and it could open the door for them to afford Rashford.

United are in a better position than they were last
