'We're finished' - Manchester United fans express fears as squad named for Bayern Munich clash

A number of Manchester United supporters have allayed concerns about Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich after the club's 21-man travelling squad for the contest was confirmed.

After hosting an open training session at Carrington on Tuesday morning, featuring both Raphael Varane and Mason Mount, the duo have not been included in the squad that has travelled to Germany. They have recently been sidelined through injury, missing the last two and three games respectively.

Their appearances in training in front of the cameras, however, offered a sense of optimism that they would both be included in the matchday squad in some capacity. However, neither of them have made the cut, implying that neither of them are fit enough to return to action just yet.

To compound United's woes even further, Harry Maguire has also been ruled out of the trip to Germany because of injury. It means only five defenders - Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans and Sergio Reguilon - have been included in the 21-man squad.

Midfielders Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo, who were both spotted being put through individual training programmes at Carrington on Tuesday, have also been left out of the travelling party. Youngsters Dan Gore and Hannibal Mejbri have been included in the midfield pool.
