'We need to be men' - Wolves star comes out with brutal assessment

After a promising start to life under Bruno Lage, Wolves have fallen to three straight defeats and find themselves eighth in the Premier League table.

The Molineux outfit were disappointingly beaten 3-0 by Brighton at home at the weekend but captain Coady insists the team will regroup for the final four games of the season with a chance of attaining European football still possible.

The 29-year-old told the club’s official site:

“It’s up to us to go back to the drawing board and look where we’re going wrong because at the minute the season’s fizzling out, and we don’t want to let that happen.

“After all the good work we’ve done this season, we don’t want to end it the way we’re doing it, so we need to be men, we need to stand up to the situation and look at our own performances because we don’t want it to fizzle out.”

The Midlands club have still to face each of the top three in their run-in and will do well to improve on their current position of eighth.

Nuno Espirito Santo led the pack to back-to-back seventh-place finishes before a disappointing campaign that saw them end up in 13th last season. 

Lage has revitalised the squad this term but there has been a drop in quality with seven defeats in their last ten games which has undone some of their early-season form. 

Nonetheless, Coady seems adamant that he and his teammates are hoping to put things right throughout May and with a trip to out-of-sorts Chelsea up next this Saturday it could be the perfect time for the side to start.
