‘We know’ - Alasdair Gold drops Spurs transfer claim; Paratici 'monitoring' two areas

Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici is now monitoring the market for potential options to bring in an attacking midfielder and a striker. 

This is what reliable Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold has suggested on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast as he discussed the Lilywhites’ plans for the remainder of the window.

Spurs have only brought in one out-and-out attacker this summer with the addition of Richarlison in a deal that could rise as high as £60m.

But reports continue to emerge suggesting Spurs are in the market for a playmaker, with James Maddison and Nicolo Zaniolo both being linked with potential moves to north London.

Richarlison was brought in with the knowledge he could provide backup to Harry Kane, having played as a striker during his days at Everton, but it seems Paratici is looking to see who else he could bring to Hotspur Way.

Gold said: “We know they’re monitoring opportunities for attacking midfielders and strikers. They’re very much in the mode, at the moment, of ‘we really need to get players out the door’.”

Spurs remain in a good position in terms of already having the majority of their business wrapped up in the early stages of the window, allowing them to focus on fine-tuning their squad.

However, there are still a lot of players who the Lilywhites need to offload this summer, having only seen Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon actually depart out of their regular squad options as we head into the season opener.

The likes of Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso earn a reported combined £320k per week, which is a huge amount Spurs will be looking to get off their wage bill.
