Alasdair Gold: £14m gem with one 'obscene' attribute has caught Paratici's eye at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur target James Garner caught the eye of Fabio Paratici during scouting missions last season, Football London’s Alasdair Gold reports.

The Athletic reported on Monday that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made Garner available for transfer.

United are willing to let the midfielder leave if their asking price of around £14million is met, with ‘several’ Premier League clubs interested.

And one of those is Spurs, who have already ‘watched’ him.

Gold corroborates Spurs’ interest in Garner and says that Paratici ‘was impressed’ every time he went to watch Djed Spence playing for Nottingham Forest.

Spurs have yet to decide whether they will make a move for the midfielder, though, and are aware that minutes might be hard to come by.

Spurs might be able to hatch a clever plan here.

They could snap up Garner for around £14million, loan him out to another of his Premier League suitors and potentially create a win-win situation.

Either he comes back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ready to figure in the first team, or he raises his value even higher by getting top-flight experience under his belt.

The rave reviews Garner has attracted certainly suggest he’s ready to thrive at this level.

Jose Mourinho has spoken highly of his him in discussions with a confidant, former team-mate Jack Colback says his crossing can be ‘obscene’ and current team-mate Fred called him the ‘most impressive‘ young player at Old Trafford.
