Wayne Rooney quit Derby County to 'devote more time to wife Coleen and their sons' as he unveils new look
Wayne Rooney's shock departure from Derby County came about so he can devote more time with his wife Coleen and their four sons it has been revealed. The club confirmed the former Manchester United player's departure in a statement yesterday evening.
Sources close to the football legend say he quit his £90,000-a-week job to be with his wife of 14 years and their boys Kai, 12, Klay, nine, Kit, six, and Cass, four, reports the Mirror. Wayne's first full summer break in 20 years comes following Coleen's 'Wagatha Christie' court battle with Rebekah Vardy the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie.
Coleen, 36, and her husband, also 36, are enjoying a holiday in Ibiza with pals including former United captain Michael Carrick, 40, and West Bromich Albion boss Steve Bruce’s son Alex. Their break comes after a family trip to Dubai with their sons in May.

A source told the Mirror: “Wayne’s always had pre-season tours, World Cups, Euros. He’s not had a summer off since he was a kid himself.
“He wants to spend the summer holidays with his boys. They break up from school soon and he just wants to spend a lot more time with them and Coleen.
“If he’d stayed at Derby then he’d have to be back at work in a week or so, preparing for the new season. That would have given him hardly any time with the children. He just wants to enjoy a full summer with his kids – it’ll be boss.”
Sharing snaps from their Ibiza trip Coleen said: "Magical memories, great friends, lots of belly laughs!! Very much needed." And over on his Instagram Wayne wrote: "More great memories made."
