'Better with age' - New Derby County signing James Chester in the words of his managers

James Chester has completed his move to League One newcomers Derby County, and the Rams fans will be glad to hear what some of his former bosses have said about him.

The former Aston Villa, Stoke City, and West Brom man has agreed to take part in the Rams' mission to bounce back to the Championship.

The former Welsh international has always received glowing praise from his managers, including his former international gaffer.

Chris Coleman is clearly a huge admirer of the Warrington-born man.

"A lot of international football is the mental challenge when you're up against the best strikers in the world.

"Nothing can happen for long periods and then something can happen very quickly and you're asked a serious question.

"If you don't think quickly, you'll get found out. James is good at that, he's good one versus one, he's a fantastic athlete and he's got a fantastic mentality so of course he's good enough to be in the Premier League."

Chester excelled at Hull under Steve Bruce and went on to become a firm fixture in the line-up as they earned promotion to the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final

.

Bruce had this to say after Chester's match-winning performance at QPR in 2014: "He really was terrific. He was really, really terrific."

Despite his game time at Albion being limited, Tony Pulis clearly thought very highly of Chester. Here's what he had to say after signing him from Hull last summer: "He's young, a strong character, a good defender.

"He has good feet and he has the Manchester United stamp all over him, just like Ryan Shawcross and Darren Fletcher. They're wonderful lads and I'm told James is as well.

"From the people I spoke to, like Steve Bruce and people in the Welsh party. They speak very highly of him.
