Watch: Tottenham loanee Ndombele provides excellent assist for Lyon

Tottenham loanee Tanguy Ndombele reminded Spurs fans of his incredible talent by setting up Moussa Dembele to break the deadlock in Lyon’s Ligue 1 fixture with Angers.

Tottenham’s club-record signing was deemed surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte’s new regime and Ndombele returned to Lyon on loan in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old has seemingly rediscovered his form at his old stomping ground, becoming a key player for a side that are struggling this season managed by Dutch coach Peter Bosz.

French newspaper L’Equipe dubbed Ndombele as a “master of tempo” following one of the midfielder’s first outings back in the French top-flight – he showcased his quality that’s earned him glowing approval in his homeland once again against Angers.

Ndombele played a swift one-two on the edge of the area before slipping through Dembele one-on-one to slot home in the 26th minute at the Groupama Stadium.

It was a piece of sublime play he failed to show consistently in the Premier League as Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte all favoured other options ahead of the seven-time capped France international.

Lyon have a €60million option to buy the player at the end of the campaign and they might just be thinking about making him a permanent acquisition if they can afford the hefty fee.

“I feel better and better,” Ndombele said speaking about his form in March. “In this final sprint, I hope to be able to bring as much as possible to the team. I hope that in the end everything will go well.

“I wish we had [Lyon] been ranked higher. Personally, I’m quite happy. But when the results are not good, we are not satisfied collectively.”
