Rangers midfielder Alex Lowry has proven he has the technical ability to take him to the top on Scotland duty.

The teenager from Uddingston was selected for the nation's u19s duty this month after breaking into senior plans at Rangers.

He built up for yesterday's UEFA under-19 Elite Round match with Turkey in Hungary through an outstanding display in a 3-0 Rangers 'B' win over Celtic's youth side in Lowland League action.

Lowry inspired the Scots youth side to a 2-1 win over Turkey with two dead-ball situations.

His first was an outstanding free-kick, which had plenty of bend and curl on it as it nestled into the top corner.

After Tugbey Akgun had levelled for Turkey, Scotland were awarded a penalty and Lowry netted to seal an impressive performance in navy blue.

Hailing from Uddingston and a graduate of Motherwell's Braidhurst high school, the midfielder made his Rangers debut in January against Stirling Albion, scoring in the Scottish Cup victory.

He has since made three further senior appearances and returns to Scotland contention against hosts Hungary on Saturday.
