Rangers hero makes 'cracking player' prediction over Ibrox star as Celtic Scottish Cup clash alterations analysed

Former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson believes something has to give if his former side are to beat Celtic in their Scottish Cup semi-final - and Alex Lowry has been name-dropped.

The Uddingston teenager's impressive performances in the club's Lowland League 'B' team have earned him a place in senior plans.

He's made four matches so far, including a debut goal against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup earlier this year.

A huge semi-final tie in that competition with arch-rivals Celtic awaits Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men next weekend after last Sunday's dismal 2-1 Premiership loss to the Hoops at Ibrox.

It leaves them behind the eight ball in the title race, and key striker Alfredo Morelos is injured for the rest of the season.

While discussing ways in which Rangers could shake things up to succeed in the last four arena, Lanarkshire-born Ferguson says Uddingston's Lowry is one to keep an eye on in years to come

The 54-year-old told Open Goal : "We have Lowry.

"He's a midfielder that plays like a number 10. He is going to be a cracking player.

"There's nobody up top though so that's something they need to look at and come up with something different in the semi-final."
