Wakefield Trinity close in on Hull FC prop ahead of pivotal Magic Weekend clash

Wakefield Trinity are close to signing Josh Bowden on a loan deal from Hull FC. Rugby League Live understands the prop is set to make the move across Super League in the coming days.

Trinity are looking to finalise a deal ahead of their pivotal Magic Weekend showdown with Toulouse Olympique, a game that threatens to have enormous implications for both clubs. Bowden will add another option for Willie Poching as he looks to find a performance from his struggling side.

Bowden, who has made 161 Super League appearances for the Black and Whites, has featured just four times this season. He was close to making a move to Featherstone Rovers in May before a deal was put on hold.

Now, Trinity are aiming to swoop and secure a deal to bolster their pack before the trip to Newcastle. Trinity are actively in the market and one of several clubs looking to do business ahead of a crucial part of the season.

FC have also been busy, having secured deals for Jack Walker and Josh Simm while a third loan could be secured at some point this week. But that has seen them move Bowden as they freshen things up after four straight defeats.

It's hoped a deal can be concluded before the registration deadline for this weekend's game. Wakefield are the first game on at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon.
