Virals: Liverpool 'ready to attack' Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez

Liverpool are reportedly ‘ready to attack’ for the signing of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The 24-year-old has been perennially linked with a move to the Reds previously and this summer could be no exception.

Martinez has 61 goals and 22 assists in 165 outings for the reigning Serie A champions but has suffered a dip in form on the UEFA Champions League stage this term.

Despite that, a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), as cited by LFCMAGAZINE on Twitter, has claimed that Liverpool could strike.

The report claims that the 37-cap Argentina star could be ‘sacrificed’ as Inter look to raise transfer funds.

It’s also claimed Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is a ‘long-term admirer’ of the frontman whom he once hailed as ‘one of the most exciting strikers in the world’.

This season Martinez has scored 12 times and provided two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions –  albeit Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate shut out the ace with ease recently.

Valued at £72million and under contract in Italy until 2026 (Transfermarkt), signing the Argentine for the mooted €90million (£75million) would represent value for money.

Undoubtedly a central operator, Martinez would be viewed as a long term successor to Roberto Firmino with a more clinical eye for goal.

Not afraid of contributing defensively, Klopp would likely be confident of transforming the frontman into a Firmino 2.0.
