Violent armed robbers jailed after targeting brothers of Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold

Three violent robbers have been jailed after targeting the brothers of Premier League footballers Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold in a terrifying attack.

Talleko Lemonious, 27, Tariq Dervan, 22 and Romario Harmer, 21, denied involvement but were convicted of the robbery of five men, including Dane Rashford and Tyler Alexander-Arnold, at Little Rock café in Moss Side. Jurors at Minshull Street Crown Court also found all three men guilty of possessing a double barrelled sawn-off shotgun, as well as having a machete and a baseball bat.

Mr Rashford - brother of Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford - and Mr Alexander-Arnold - brother of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold - were attacked and robbed of a £70,000 car, wallets and watches while eating breakfast with friends on the morning of January 12, 2019.

Police were able to track the stolen car, which was fitted with a tracker, to a house in Fallowfield where the men were arrested and the stolen items recovered.

Today (April 12) they were jailed; Lemonious, of Wythenshawe, for 20 years; Dervan, of no fixed abode, for seven-and-a-half years; and Harmer, of Old Trafford, for four years.

Prosecuting, Stephen McNally said that the brothers had met with friends and gone to Little Rock, a Caribbean takeaway in Moss Side, to have breakfast before driving to Brighton to watch Liverpool play a Premier League game. They parked on nearby Bowes Street before arriving at the café at about 10am.
