Victory in Libya, but the 'game is not over' warns desperate Pirates co-coach Ncikazi

Orlando Pirates recorded a comfortable 2-0 CAF Confederation Cup semi-final first-leg victory in Libya against Al Ahli Tripoli on Sunday, but co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has sounded the alarm on celebrating just yet.

Innocent Maela gave the Buccaneers an early lead in the eighth minute at the Martyrs of February Stadium before Goodman Mosele rattled the back of the net on the half-hour mark.

Pirates return to South African shores on Monday or Tuesday before preparing for the second leg on Sunday, with hopes of securing a final berth in what has been a roller-coaster campaign for the Soweto giants.

"We played a very good team. This Tripoli team is very good tactically, they can play direct [and are] very skillful," Ncikazi told reporters after the game, who will be desperate to end the season with some silverware.

"But, one must give credit to our players, they applied themselves very well. We must thank our team management for all the logistical support.

"I think there are lots of people we have to thank, but I am just happy and proud of the team for the win away from home. It was important to score and get a result.

"The game is not over, it is half-time. We are only leading. When we go home they can do the same thing.

"We will treat the game very seriously. It is important to understand the dynamics of African football, a goal away is important."

Ncikazi has sent out a warning to his own players that they will not be allowed to get too confident about their passage to the final, despite a comfortable two-goal lead.

"We will treat the match as 0-0, respect them because they are a good team and try to proceed into the next round," said the former Golden Arrows boss.
