Fabulous Faf flying SA flag highest at IPL: What the stats say

Faf du Plessis and Kagiso Rabada lead the South African charge as the Indian Premier League (IPL) reaches its business end.

On Sunday, Du Plessis smashed an unbeaten half-century to steer the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a 67-run win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Du Plessis notched his 25th IPL half-century (third in the current campaign) by scoring an unbeaten 73 off just 50 balls as Bangalore posted 192/3 in 20 overs.

The South African batter hit eight fours and two sixes and in the process, also achieving the milestone of 300 fours in the tournament.

Du Plessis, who is the Bangalore captain, rose to the third position among the leading run-scorers as he has scored 389 runs from 12 matches thus far.

Proteas star batter Quinton de Kock also scored a half-century for log-leaders, the Lucknow Super Giants, against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.

De Kock blasted 50 off 29 balls (hitting four fours and three sixes) as the Giants clinched a 75-run victory to top the IPL standings.

Scoring his third IPL half-century of the season, De Kock is sixth on the Orange Cup standings, making 344 runs in his 11 games thus far.

The next best South African batter is Aiden Markram, who has had a solid performance with the bat for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Markram has scored 326 runs in his 11 games and has made three half-centuries.

The hard-hitting David Miller, who played his 100th IPL game, is not too far off on the list having scored 306 runs at an impressive average of 61.20 in his 11 games.

Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius hasn't had as much impact with the bat, scoring 44 runs but has captured six wickets in his six IPL games for the Chennai Super Kings.
