Victor Ochei’s support ’ll boost Nigerian paralympics teams, others, says Olopade

The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Chief Bukola Olopade, has said a partnership with Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, a renowned philanthropist, investor and supporter of professional and grassroots sports in Nigeria will be a major boost for the nation’s Paralympics teams.

In a move to reposition sports as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy and culture, Olopade embarked on an aggressive campaign to market sports as a national asset, securing Victor Ochei’s support.

Ochei, a former Speaker of Delta State House of Assemble and former Governorship aspirant under the APC, is the chairman Davnotch Nigeria Limited.

Among his contributions to the nation’s sports in recent years was sponsorship of the Victor Ochei International Wheelchair Basketball Championship, which attracted many Nigerian players from local and international scene. For over seven years, the championship produced many stars for the country, just as Ochei also sponsored Nigerian Wheelchair Basketball teams to various international competitions, including the Rio 2016 Olympics Games qualifiers in Algeria, where the country fielded both male and female teams.

With Olopade as Director General of the NSC, Victor Ochei will do everything for Nigeria’s sports development as enshrined in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Speaking with The Guardian, Olopade stated that Rt. Hon. Ochei, not only accepted an invitation to serve as a patron of the Paralympics Committee of Nigeria (PCN), but equally pledged to expand his investments in Nigeria’s Sports sector.
