Venezia have proven yet again that they have the best kits in football with new home shirt

Venezia might not be the biggest team in Italy, but they certainly know how to rustle up a stunning football kit.

It’s not every day that a so-called ‘yo-yo club’ in Italian football gathers the attention of millions of fans around the world.

However, the branding revolution that’s clearly underway in Venice has helped to elevate the city’s Serie B side with an extraordinarily rocky history to the status of football’s most fashionable club.

While the origins of Venezia FC can be traced all the way back to its initial 1907 founding, the club has been forced to rise from the ashes no less than three times in the last 17 years.

The most recent resurrection in 2015 under the club’s current name has been an overwhelming success, though; rising all the way from Serie D to the Italian top-flight in just six years.

In 2020, former chief executive officer of the New York Stock Exchange Duncan Niederauer took over as club president, overseeing the side’s foray into Serie A for the 2021/22 campaign.

And although Venezia were immediately sent crashing back to the second tier, it was the perfect showcase for the cultural and commercial transformation that was taking place at the club.

Instead of battling against Venice’s proud traditions, its football club started to lean into them, playing off the city’s long history of excellence in art, literature and architecture in its branding.

And this ingenious approach has been most apparent in the club’s stunning jersey releases with Kappa, known for their classical Italian aesthetics, taking over as their kit providers last season.
