Formula E: Antonio Felix da Costa delighted with New York E-Prix victory

Antonio Felix da Costa compared the New York E-Prix to Monaco after taking victory in race two of the weekend in the Big Apple.

The Formula E season now has just two rounds left with races to be held in London and Korea, with New York providing the latest backdrop for the championship.

Race one was dramatic, of course, with a heavy burst of rain curtailing the E-Prix whilst race two ran at full length, and it was Da Costa who didn’t look back as he took victory.

Speaking after the race, he compared New York to Monaco in terms of how significant the race is to FE, and was clearly delighted with his win:

“I love it – this is a little bit like our Monaco, it is such an incredible city,” he said. “I finished 2nd and3rd here in the past – but to win this one today is amazing, especially given where we were comingfrom after such a tough start to the season. I love the struggle and to keep proving everyone wrong,working with my guys to keep on improving, and here we are standing as a winner this season again,amazing.

“The guys behind were keeping me honest the whole way. I didn’t have a lot of information on howwe were doing on energy, so I was just trying to stick to my targets, and I was mentally ready tofight. If I have to lose a position I would, but I really wanted this win, and I could see with like tenlaps to go what Stoff had and that I could keep him behind if I made no mistakes. The track waspicking the grip a lot, cars starting to oversteer, so it was very hard not to make mistakes – but I amso happy with this.

“We have worked so hard man, these guys called me out to Paris, and I spent weeks in the sim. It’sboring, it sucks – but I need to thank them as well. I know I am the one lifting the trophy now, but Icouldn’t
