Unexpected Leicester City transfer door opens with Napoli set to capitalise on 'problems'

Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet could be heading for a surprise move to Napoli.

The Belgian has spent this season on loan at Serie A side Torino, where he has made 23 appearances despite missing the best part of three months with a serious foot injury. The Italian club are said to be keen to bring him back on loan for another year.

But according to a new report from Area Napoli, Torino are "having problems finding an agreement" with City for the midfielder so a return to Turin may not be as likely as it had seemed. His exit from Filbert Way still looks certain though, and it is said Praet "wants to stay" in Italy.

He may soon get his wish, as Napoli are reportedly interested in signing him. Manager Luciano Spalletti is said to have been a fan of Praet "for years" and "would appreciate his versatility" in his squad.

Napoli have secured a third-place finish in Serie A for this season, seven places above Torino, and will be playing Champions League football next season. It is unclear whether Praet would get into their starting XI due to the quality they have, but he would find European football in Italy hard to turn down.
