UK snow map shows the motorways hit by 15-hour Met Office warning
A number of major motorways across the UK are covered by a 15-hour Met Office snow and ice warning tonight and tomorrow.
Forecasters have warned that wintry showers could cause disruption on the roads covered by the yellow weather warning. The warning is set to come into force at 7pm tonight (Monday) and last until 10am on Tuesday.
It covers all of Greater Manchester, as well as parts of the East Midlands, the North East, Scotland, Wales, the West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and other parts of the North West. Motorways in our area covered by the warning include the M56, M6, M60, M66, M61 and M62.

Others also covered include the M606, M58, M55, M1, M18, A1(M), M74 and A74(M). Drivers have been urged to prepare for the wintry weather by checking their cars are suitable for icy and potentially snowy conditions.
Motorists should also take extra supplies including food, blankets and a fully-charged mobile phone with them on journeys, the Met Office said. Forecasters have also warned of possible delays on some train and bus services.
Outlining the yellow weather warning, the Met Office said: "Further snow and ice are forecast from Monday evening and overnight into Tuesday. Although most snow is still likely to accumulate on higher ground, with 5-10 cm on ground over 200 metres and possibly 15-20 cm over 300 metres, there is a chance that snow may settle at lower levels within the warning area.
"This possible 5-10 cm at lower levels is likely to be more disruptive, particularly if travelling and if the snow coincides rush hour, but the likelihood for that is still uncertain at this stage. As the rain, sleet and snow clear on Tuesday morning,
