Southport beach has had its share of criticism, being ranked as one of the worst seaside towns in the country by Which? magazine for two years running.
Despite this unflattering assessment, Southport beach received a respectable score of 6.7 on beaches-searcher.com.
It wasn't all gloom for this seaside spot as some visitors were full of praise, with a few awarding it a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.
One visitor, Rajdwip Tapadar, lauded the beach in the comments, saying: "A good place to hang out but if you are expecting some sea then you might need
