UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns helped a brain surgery survivor get back to jiu-jitsu training at Sanford MMA yesterday.

While there are plenty of good guys out there in the world of mixed martial arts, few are as beloved as Gilbert Burns.

The Brazilian is the kind of fighter who radiates the ‘what you see is what you get’ energy. He doesn’t do anything for show and instead opts to fight his heart out every single day, both in and out of the Octagon.

If his kindness was ever in doubt, the following Instagram video of him helping Matt, who is recovering from emergency brain surgery, should serve as the perfect form of proof.

“A pleasure get my guy Matt @brainsurgerysurvivor back to Jiu-Jitsu after a serious Brain surgery! Believe me Matt it was more beneficial for me than for you!”

Sanford is a gym that oozes talent from head to toe and it says a lot that one of their biggest names took time out of his day to do this.

In his last outing at UFC 273 earlier this month, Gilbert Burns came face to face with the man who has been feared by the masses for months now – Khamzat Chimaev.

‘Borz’ was pinpointed as the boogeyman and also as the individual who could, quite possibly, dethrone Kamaru Usman and become the UFC welterweight champion.

However, in Jacksonville, ‘Durinho’ took the Chechen sensation to the limit in a way that some didn’t think was possible.

The second round, in particular, was a dominant one for Burns as he dropped Chimaev and had him in real trouble right up until the buzzer sounded.

He may not have had his hand raised at the end of the night but he did win the hearts of everyone watching and reaffirmed his status as one of the best 170-pounders on the planet.
