Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns agree to fight as American plots UFC return

UFC star Jorge Masvidal has verbally accepted a showdown with fellow welterweight contender Gilbert Burns.

Within the context of the 170-pound division there are currently three names that stand out above the pack – Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ currently holds the gold with Covington and Chimaev chasing him but just behind that trio, we’ve got an assortment of great welterweight talent just waiting to prove themselves to the masses once again.

Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns, who have both lost to two of the three aforementioned juggernauts, are tremendous talents in their own right and deserve to be recognised as such.

They’re both ready to get back on the horse and climb back into the Octagon and when you consider how well-rounded they are, it makes sense for them to be favoured against whoever else challenges them.

That is, of course, unless they’re partnered together.

Burns has been particularly active on social media in his hunt for a comeback scrap and it appears as if he’s found his man in the form of ‘Gamebred’.
