UFC 275: Georges St-Pierre explains Glover Teixeira's route to victory

UFC legend Georges St-Pierre has given his thoughts on how Glover Teixeira could defeat Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275.

This Saturday night in Singapore, Glover Teixeira will defend his UFC light heavyweight title for the first time when he comes face to face with Jiri Prochazka.

Teixeira captured the gold last October when he defeated Jan Blachowicz to become the oldest first-time champion in UFC history. Now, at the age of 42, he’ll attempt to see off the challenge of an incredibly intimidating contender – Jiri Prochazka.

‘BJP’ is just 2-0 in the UFC but in both of those bouts, he knocked out his opponent using an unorthodox and somewhat wild attacking style.

As the younger, more aggressive fighter he’s being viewed as the favourite heading into this one but in the mind of the great Georges St-Pierre, there’s a really viable route to victory for the reigning champion.

“This is a very interesting fight. Teixeira, I believe, in order to win, needs to use his experience, especially in the beginning of the fight when Prochazka is at his most dangerous. We know he always starts the fight very aggressive, right off the bat.

“Don’t ever count Teixeira out. He’s a very clever fighter and he can do it all very, very well. I believe he needs to weather the storm in the beginning, perhaps use his wrestling, trying to put Prochazka outside of his comfort zone and try to get him later on in the fight.”

“It’s gonna be an interesting one, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.”
