Tyrell Malacia insider explains why he is ready for Manchester United transfer

Incoming Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is ready to make the step up to perform in the Premier League, his personal trainer, Jordan Kroon, has insisted.

The Feyenoord left-back is closing in on a move to Old Trafford after United agreed a fee with the Dutch club worth £12.9million on Tuesday afternoon. He was poised to join French club Lyon, but the Reds made a last-ditch attempt to hijack the deal and are now on course to win the race for his signature.

Along with countryman Frenkie de Jong, Malacia, 22, is set to become one of the first signings of the Erik ten Hag era in Manchester. He will add a degree of quality to the battle for the left-back berth, although it is understood that Luke Shaw will remain at the very top of the pecking order for now.

The attack-minded full-back has excelled at Feyenoord in recent seasons, establishing himself, in the eyes of many, as the best left-back in the Eredivisie. And now he is set to earn the chance to make a name for himself in the Premier League - something which Kroon believes he is ready to do.

"Tyrell is extremely hard working and very passionate player," said Kroon. "He wants to make his name known in the world. I think he's ready for Premier League. He's very different from many players and doesn't care much about social media. He only focuses on football."

Kroon's statement about Malacia being ready to test himself outside of his comfort zone is similar to the admission former Feyenoord manager and current Rangers boss Giovani van Bronckhorst made earlier this year. He admitted that he believed the next step for the Dutchman was to play abroad.
