Memphis Depay sends message to Tyrell Malacia over Manchester United transfer

Memphis Depay has delivered a message to Tyrell Malacia over his transfer to Manchester United. Malacia, 22, was the first player welcomed in by Erik ten Hag as the newly-appointed manager continues to scout further signings as part of a much-needed rebuild.

Lisandro Martinez, Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen are next on the agenda if United can get those prospective deals over the line. United are in advanced talks with Ajax over Martinez and free-agent Eriksen has verbally agreed to join. De Jong is still the priority target, but negotiations between the club and Barcelona have stalled.

It means that Malacia was the only fresh face to jet out with United on their pre-season tour. He made his debut in the thrilling win over Liverpool and could be poised to make his first start when Ten Hag and his squad lace up their boots against Melbourne Victory at the world-famous MCG.

Before that game, the Netherlands starlet took to popular social media platform Instagram to upload a compilation video of his short time with United so far. It featured clips of his flight to Manchester, arriving at Old Trafford and his first appearance with the media.

Malacia added a star-struck emoji with the caption: "About a week ago." Already drawing in thousands of 'likes' and comments, there was a familiar name to United supporters at the top of that replies list.

Netherlands teammate Depay - who spent 18 months at United earlier in his career - was quick to share a comment and wished Malacia well despite the Barcelona forward being unable to showcase his ability in the famous red shirt. Depay replied: "New level unlocked, let's go."
