Two charged after raid sees dozens of houses evacuated

Two men have been charged for drugs offences after a property was raided in Irlam yesterday morning (June 13). One has also been charged for possession of a knife.

Greater Manchester Police raided a property on Neville Drive, off Silver Street, around 11am yesterday 'in relation to an assault', they said. Surrounding homes then had to be evacuated with a 100 metre cordon put in place after a 'possible explosive device' was found.

The device ended up being a firework. Residents were allowed back into their homes around 2pm.
