Two charged after raid sees dozens of houses evacuated
Two men have been charged for drugs offences after a property was raided in Irlam yesterday morning (June 13). One has also been charged for possession of a knife.
Greater Manchester Police raided a property on Neville Drive, off Silver Street, around 11am yesterday 'in relation to an assault', they said. Surrounding homes then had to be evacuated with a 100 metre cordon put in place after a 'possible explosive device' was found.
The device ended up being a firework. Residents were allowed back into their homes around 2pm.

A GMP spokesman today confirmed that two were arrested following the raid, with both now charged. Liam Phoenix, 22, of Princess Avenue, Irlam, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
Jake Twist, also 22, of Neville Drive, Irlam, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and possession of a bladed or sharply pointed article. Both were remanded to appear at court today.
