Triple H: 10 things you didn't know about the WWE legend

Triple H is an all-time WWE great, having held multiple World Championships and main evented several WrestleManias.

Despite now having retired from wrestling, Triple H still has a massive influence over the WWE product, being appointed as the Head of Creative in the wake of Vince McMahon’s retirement in July.

In spite of all of that, there’s a fair bit that fans probably still need to know about ‘The Game’, so GiveMeSport takes you through ten things you didn’t know about Triple H…

Prior to joining WWE and going onto become Triple H, Paul Levesque wrestled for WCW under the ring name Terra Ryzing. The cringe-inducing name did little to help him get over as a star in his early years.

Upon joining WWE, J.J. Dillion suggested the ring name Reginald DuPont Helmsley as part of his original “Connecticut Blueblood” gimmick.

Levesque asked for a name that he could play with the initials, and so Hunter Hearst Helmsley was born and the rest is history.

At WrestleMania 12 in 1996, Hunter lost in just 100 seconds to the returning Ultimate Warrior. He was utterly buried by the notoriously difficult superstar, who no sold The Pedigree before pinning him in rapid fashion.

The infamous “Curtain Call” in 1996, where Shawn Michaels, Triple H and the WCW-bound Kevin Nash and Scott Hall broke character to embrace one another was a major incident.

With Michaels the WWE Champion, Triple H took the heat and was replaced as the King of the Ring winner that year by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
