Tragedy as man found dead with forensics called out to playing fields

A man was tragically found dead after police were called to playing fields in Little Hulton on Sunday (February 18). Forensics and paramedics attended the scene at Amblecote Playing Fields, off Cleggs Lane, at around 4.25pm.

Emergency services had responded to a concern for the welfare of a male. They attended, however the man, whose age has not been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said there are thought to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 4.25pm on Sunday 18 February 2024, officers responded to a concern for the welfare of a male just off Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton.

"Officers and emergency services attended the scene. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the male was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a file will now be prepared for the coroner."
