Tragedy as dad dies on 'holiday of a lifetime' just days before his wedding

A much-loved died unexpectedly on his dream holiday - just days before he was due to marry his long-term partner.

Jeff Walker died passed away suddenly while visiting Australia with his girlfriend Donna Jones and her 14-year-old son Aaron last month.

The couple got engaged six years ago and were hoping to tie the knot while meeting up with friends in Australia. Jetting off from Manchester Airport on December 18, the couple spent three days exploring Dubai before making the last leg of their journey to Aus - but Jeff fell ill on the plane.

Collapsing outside the toilets, he was immediately transferred to Royal Perth Hospital. Five hours later, 57-year-old Jeff was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

Before his diagnosis, Jeff had no signs or symptoms of leukaemia - with Donna saying he felt tired whilst they holidayed in Dubai but nothing out of the ordinary.

In the following few days of his hospital admission, 50-year-old Donna says her fiancé was his usual "chatty" and "very happy" self, welcoming visitors and sharing jokes with his friends.
