Tour de France: Daniel Oss breaks neck after crashing into fan

With the Tour de France currently ongoing, Italian rider Daniel Oss has withdrawn from the race with a broken neck after crashing into a fan on Stage 5.

In a separate incident, Primoz Roglic suffered a dislocation of his shoulder on the cobbled stage, however, the Slovenian rider bravely popped it back into its socket.

A video surfacing across Twitter shows Oss was injured due to a spectator foolishly getting too close to the cyclist.

It was on the third of 11 cobbled sections on the route from Lille to Arenberg where the TotalEnergies star’s injury occurred, as Oss came crashing off his bike, with the fan sent flying to the ground.

After heading for scans once the 35-year-old still incredibly managed to finish the race, it was revealed that Oss will be out of action for “a few weeks”.

TotalEnergies confirmed on Twitter: “Additional examinations revealed a fracture of a cervical vertebra requiring immobilisation for a few weeks.

“Daniel Oss is therefore required to leave the Tour de France. The whole team wishes you a good recovery Daniel.”
