Tottenham will 'accept losses' on £110m duo at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur have accepted that they will have to make a loss on Tanguy Ndombele and Giovanni Lo Celso this summer as the club looks to off load some of its higher earners, according to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Antonio Conte has overseen some exciting additions at Hotspur Way this summer but the focus may now turn to off-loading unwanted players.

Six new signings have been made this summer, including the likes of Richarlison and Ivan Perisic, while only two first-team squad members have departed.

Winger Steven Bergwijn was snapped up by Ajax for £28 million while Cameron Carter-Vickers made his move to Celtic permanent, in a £6.3 million deal.

However, there are several other players who are surplus to requirements at the club still.

Harry Winks and Sergio Reguillon were left out of Conte’s squad for their pre-season trip to South Korea, alongside Lo Celso and Ndombele, with the latter two were signed for a combined £110 million in the summer of 2019 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It appears the quartet are not in the Italian’s plans for the coming season and will be frantically looking for moves away.

But the club will likely have to accept a loss on the players.

Eccleshare understands that the powers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have accepted that they will have to take a loss to move them on.

The Athletic reporter told GIVEMESPORT: “What I’ve been told is that they accept they are going to have to make losses on some of these players. Obviously Ndombele and Lo Celso were signed in 2019, pre COVID, and they’re not going to get anything like what they spent on those two.”
