Tottenham suffered their first taste of defeat under new boss Antonio Conte at the weekend, when the side fell to a 2-0 loss at the hands of London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The match put an end to a run of nine games unbeaten since the Italian took charge, placing Spurs firmly back in the hunt for a top four finish.
It shouldn’t be underestimated just how crucial it could be for the side to finish fourth this season, with the revenue gained from Champions League football providing a potential launchpad for Conte and his side to build from.
However, the race for the top four is heating up to be an intense one that could go down to the wire, with Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham also in the hunt.
Just two points separate United and Spurs from fourth to seventh, though Conte’s men have one game in hand over North London rivals Arsenal, two over Manchester United and three over West Ham.
While they have the opportunity to leapfrog the leaders for fourth, they still have to win those games to have any chance of doing so. After all, points on the board are always worth more than games in hand.
With that said,
