Tottenham: 'Outstanding' Google deal has 'big potential' at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur’s potential deal with technology giant Google regarding their stadium naming rights could help the club become a ‘global power’ in the game, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The north Londoners moved into their £1 billion home three years ago but it could be set to get a prominent new name.

This summer saw Daniel Levy hand manager Antonio Conte more than £90 million to bolster his squad but there are hopes their transfer kitty could soon be given a boost.

That is because the club are in talks with Google over the naming rights for their 62,000-seater venue, according to the Athletic.

The report adds that the company already has sports partnerships in Formula 1, the NBA and MLB but football could soon be added to that list.

It is understood that Levy is seeking a world-record figure for the agreement that would be worth around £25 million a year and has previously held talks with Uber, FedEx and Amazon.

Tottenham could potentially follow in the footsteps of Barcelona if they strike a deal after the La Liga giants entered an agreement with music streaming platform Spotify back in March, which included naming rights on the iconic Camp Nou.

Jones understands that the north Londoners have been on the lookout for an opportunity in this regard for some time.

The journalist adds that a deal with Google could potentially elevate Spurs to one of the game’s global powers.
