Tottenham 'might consider' move for 49-cap Serie A star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur could still ‘look to do something’ in the transfer market in the ‘creative midfield position’, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Antonio Conte has been able to stamp his authority on the first-team squad at Hotspur Way this summer, yet further additions could still be made in the final days of the window.

Spurs have already brought in seven new signings, with the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Ivan Perisic adding quality to the capital club’s setup.

However, the departures of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso on loan to Napoli and Villarreal, respectively, have left Tottenham without any natural attacking midfielders.

And transfer expert David Ornstein revealed last month that that is an area of the pitch where Conte may look to strengthen.

“(Creative midfield) is where we might just see someone come in before the window shuts,” Ornstein said, speaking on The Athletic’s Youtube channel (via Planet Football).

“I think this is really the one missing piece of the Tottenham squad – what if they want to play a different way?” responded his colleague and Tottenham reporter Jack Pitt-Brooke.

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Leicester City’s James Maddison and Ruslan Malinovskyi of Atalanta in recent weeks, and Taylor believes the latter ‘might fall under consideration’.

He told GiveMeSport: “(Morgan) Gibbs-White, if he’s going to cost £45.5 million, what is, I know some of those are add-ons that probably won’t be achieved, but what’s Maddison worth?

“So, I don’t see that happening, but I still think Spurs will look to do something again in that creative midfield position. So, Malinovskyi might fall under consideration.
