Chelsea: £58m star 'now likely to stay after internal talks' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is now ‘likely to stay’ at Stamford Bridge after holding ‘clear the air talks’, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The Blues have spent more than £180million on bolstering head coach Thomas Tuchel’s squad throughout the transfer window, but there could be further incomings and outgoings ahead of the 11pm deadline on September 1.

It is understood that Pulisic is desperate to leave Chelsea as he is eager to secure regular game-time ahead of the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar this winter.

According to The Athletic, Premier League rivals Manchester United are considering taking the creative midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

The report suggests Chelsea are open to sanctioning a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge, with Newcastle United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid also making approaches for the 51-cap United States international.

However, it is reportedly unlikely that Pulisic will leave west London so close to the closure of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old’s Chelsea contract – which is worth £150,000-per-week – is due to expire in the summer of 2024, meaning they are not necessarily under pressure to sanction his departure.

Phillips understands that Pulisic is set to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

The journalist is aware that the American has held talks over his future and his father was involved in the discussions after liking tweets criticising Tuchel and the amount of playing time coming Pulisic’s way.
