Tottenham: 'Immediate positive' for Conte over £15m star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham have an “immediate positive” in having a replacement for Ivan Perisic following the arrival of Destiny Udogie, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Italy Under-21 star became Antonio Conte’s seventh and final summer signing when he made the switch from Udinese.

Following his impressive form in his breakout season in Serie A, Spurs snapped up the 19-year-old on a long-term contract for a £15m fee.

Udogie caught the eye after registering eight goal involvements in 35 top-flight matches to help Udinese to a 12th place finish.

But Tottenham had already brought in Ivan Perisic from fellow Italian outfit Inter Milan, which meant the teenager was allowed to return to the Udine club on a season-long loan, before linking up with his new teammates ahead of next term.

Regardless, Bridge reckons it can only be good news that Conte has already sorted out a replacement for the Croatia international, who'll have less than 12 months remaining on his deal by the end of next summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It looks like they've sorted his understudy for next season with Destiny Udogie, who's having a great season with Udinese, so that's an immediate positive."

Having established himself as one of the top attacking wing-backs in Serie A in 2021-2022, Udogie has been showing more of the same going forward this campaign.

In eight league outings, he's already seen the net ripple twice, one of which came as his side thumped Jose Mourinho's Roma 4-0 back in early-September, while the other was in a victory at newly-promoted Monza.

In fact, Udogie has started all-but one Serie A game this season, and the one he missed was the 4-2 defeat at AC Milan on the opening day, the only time they've lost in the league.
