Tottenham handed James Maddison injury boost ahead of Man City FA Cup clash

Tottenham have been handed a big injury boost ahead of Friday night’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City, with the club confirming that James Maddison has returned to training.

City travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday night (8pm kick-off) as both teams look to make it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup. City overcame Huddersfield Town to make it to this stage, while Tottenham beat Burnley.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have had several injuries over the last few months. One of those has been to James Maddison, who has been on the sidelines since injuring his ankle against Chelsea back in November.

It now seems that the summer signing from Leicester City is closing in on a return. Sharing an image of the midfielder getting ready for training on X (formerly Twitter), Spurs wrote: “Look who’s back.”

The account then shared a second image of Maddison out on the training field with the caption: “Things you love to see.”

The 27-year-old had become a key player for Tottenham after a summer move from Leicester . In his first 11 Premier League appearances for the club, Maddison scored three times and provided a further six assists.

He will now look to build up his fitness ahead of a return to action. If he will be deemed fit enough to make the squad vs City on Friday night is still to be seen, with the game potentially coming too early for the England international after over two months out.

If he doesn’t make it vs City, then the Premier League clash against Brentford five days later could be targeted. Spurs
