Tottenham: Forgotten £80k-a-week star can be 'real threat' at Hotspur Way

Tottenham winger Lucas Moura can be a useful player off the bench for Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The £80,000 per-week star has missed much of this campaign due to suffering an injury at Chelsea in August but made his return in the Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening.

Despite being an important player for Spurs over the years, it's been a frustrating 2022 for Moura, who's lost his place in the side following Dejan Kulusevski's arrival and has been demoted to a bit-part player.

As a result, the Brazil international has started just twice in the Premier League since the middle of February, with Kulusevski providing support for Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

Moura's hopes of getting more regular game-time haven't been helped by the arrival of another forward player in Richarlison, but with Conte continuing to rotate his squad with fixtures coming every three or four days, Bridge reckons he can provide something from the bench.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Lucas Moura's role this season would have been a bench player, a squad player, and he would have accepted that.

"And obviously, he offers pace when he comes on. He's not the easiest on the eye, because he sort of runs with his head down, but he can score goals out of the ordinary, but he can be a real threat."

With 65 goal contributions in 208 games for Tottenham, Moura has always been a decent squad player and it's no surprise he's been regularly used by managers in the calibre of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Conte.

But Richarlison and Kulusevski's signings mean he finds himself further down the pecking order than ever before at the club.

As a result, the Carabao Cup tie at Nottingham Forest next month
