Tottenham 'definitely interested' in £60m star at Hotspur Way
Tottenham definitely retain an interest in Everton winger Anthony Gordon, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Spurs attempted to sign the 21-year-old earlier in the summer and, while Chelsea now look to be at the front of the queue for his signature, Taylor says the north London club are still keen on him.
Sky Sports recently reported that Chelsea are prepared to pay £60m to bring Gordon to Stamford Bridge before next week’s transfer deadline.
The Blues have already had a bid of £40m-£45m for the Englishman turned down by Everton, but that does not appear to have deterred them.
Prior, Sky Sports claimed that Tottenham were looking to sign Gordon and Richarlison from Everton in a double deal. However, in the end, it was not something they were able to get done, with only the latter moving to Hotspur Way after a £60m agreement was struck between the two clubs.
With the transfer window still open, though, Gordon’s future at Goodison Park remains far from certain.
Taylor has told GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham are still interested in Gordon. However, the Daily Express journalist cannot see them paying the sort of money their London rivals are prepared to offer.
Speaking to GMS, Taylor said: “Anthony Gordon is one where there’s definite interest in him, 100%. Obviously, Spurs looked to include him in the deal for Richarlison as a double package, but I think the problem for Tottenham at the moment is Chelsea are willing to pay big, big money that I don’t think Tottenham will match.”
Absolutely not. £60m seems excessive for a player who is still quite raw. Last season, Gordon registered just four times in 35 league outings, so it is clear that he still has a lot of developing to do as an attacker.
