Tottenham: ‘Crazy’ £21.5m striker could arrive at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur could sign Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer as they search for a back-up to Harry Kane, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Spurs have been without a second-choice forward since Carlos Vinicius returned to parent club Benfica following an underwhelming loan stint throughout 2020/21.

Kalajdzic has risen to prominence in Germany after enjoying a productive spell with Stuttgart over the last couple of campaigns, leading to speculation that he’s set for pastures new.

According to The Athletic, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are keen to snap up the 24-year-old due to the departure of Erling Haaland and the uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future.

Meanwhile, Benfica are said to be in the running after identifying Kalajdzic as their ideal replacement for Darwin Nunez, with Premier League duo Brighton and Southampton also listed amongst his potential suitors.

And a recent update on the Austria international’s situation from German newspaper Stuttgart Nachrichten (via InsideFutbol) claims Tottenham have now entered the race.

It’s claimed that Kalajdzic, who only has 12 months remaining on his current contract, is set to cost€25 million (£21.5m) this summer, a fee that could prove to be a bargain later down the line.

The likes of Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente and Vinicius has previously been brought in to provide some cover and competition for Kane with little success.

But Crook believes that if Kalajdzic is ‘willing’ to accept his role as second-fiddle, then he could arrive at Hotspur Way.
